Here for her fourth appearance on TMR is Norwegian singer and producer Ingri Høyland Kvamstad - aka Hôy la - with new track ‘Kids’. A creeping and moody number, Hôy la once again executes her minimalist style to spacious perfection. This choice wasn’t merely an aesthetic one, as Kvamstad, co-writer Jonas Wetterselv and producer Anders Bach went down this super minimalist and raw route to preserve the vulnerability of the vocals which were recorded on a phone and to deliver the full depth of her words. That first line, “the kids are not okay,” is designed to draw our attention to the mental health crisis happening within today’s younger generations. As Kvamstad illuminates: ”I have written this song to the parents of one of my good friends, as I witnessed over and over again how they failed to notice how their son was struggling.
